MADURAI: There is a list of five things to be done on Sunday, June 5,
World Environment Day. Plant saplings around homes, in educational
institutions and industrial establishments. Stop all vehicles for a
minute at 11 a.m. Avoid use of disposable plastic. Desist from using
air horns and send sms to friends about the need to protect the
environment.
The District Collector, U. Sagayam, in a statement, has appealed to
the public, voluntary organisations and self-help groups to involve
themselves in these activities on Sunday to protect the environment
from degradation.

மதுரை : ""உலக சுற்றுச்சூழல் தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு, மதுரையில்
சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் வகையில், நாளை காலை 11
மணிக்கு வாகனங்களை ஒரு நிமிடம் நிறுத்துவோம்'', என கலெக்டர் சகாயம்
தெரிவித்தார்.
கலெக்டர் செய்திக்குறிப்பு: அதிக வெப்பத்தை கூட்டும் கார்பன் மோனாக்சைடு,
மீத்தேன், டயாக்சின் போன்ற வாயுகள் சேர்ந்து வளிமண்டலத்தை தூய்மைக் கேடாக
மாற்றி விட்டது. இதன் விளைவாக, தட்டவெட்ப நிலையில் மாற்றம் ஏற்பட்டு
வருகிறது. இயற்கையை பாதுகாப்பது ஒவ்வொருவரின் பங்களிப்பாக உள்ளது. இதற்கு
ஏற்ப வாழ்க்கை முறையில் மாற்றம் கொண்டு வரவேண்டும். சுற்று சூழலுக்கேற்ற
பொருளாக வாங்கி உபயோகிக்க வேண்டும். புவியை காப்பது மனிதனின் கையில் தான்
உள்ளது.
மதுரை மாவட்டத்தில் பொதுமக்கள், மாணவர்கள், தன்னார்வ தொண்டு நிறுவனங்கள்,
சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் மற்றும் மகளிர் சுயஉதவிக் குழுக்கள் சுற்றுச்சூழலை
உறுதிப்படுத்துவதற்காக, தனிநபர் மற்றும் பள்ளி வளாகங்கள், தொழிற்சாலை
வளாகங்களில் மரக்கன்றுகள் நடவேண்டும். வாகன ஓட்டிகள் வாகனங்களை நாளை காலை
11 மணிக்கு ஒரு நிமிடம் நிறுத்த வேண்டும். தூக்கி எறியும் பிளாஸ்டிக்கை
தவிர்த்தும், சுற்றுச்சூழலை பாதுகாக்கும் வகையில் பொதுமக்கள்,
நண்பர்களுக்கு குறுஞ்செய்திகள் அனுப்பும் செயல்கள் மூலம் சுற்றுச்சூழல்
பாதுகாப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளை அனைவரும் பின்பற்றுவோம், என குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்

Towards observing the world environment day 2011, iGREEN has tied up with Fast Track car service in Madurai District to stop their cars for five minutes in order to sensitize the drivers & public reducing the carbon effect from the atmosphere on 5th June 2011from 10.00 a.m. to 10.05 a.m. iGREEN shared this plan with District Collector of Madurai Mr. Shayam, I.A.S., and requested him to plan some initiative in district level for observing world environment. As a result the Madurai District Collector appeal to the public to stop the motor vehicle for a minute at 11 a. m.
Therefore, dear friends, IGREEN requests you to take all the possible efforts to sensitise the people around you on this matter and contribute your activities towards the reduction of carbon in the atmosphere.Herewith i am sharing the Newspaper clipping with web links
